The Finnish Association of Vision and Eyecare strongly supports digital assessment of care needs and the use of automation and artificial intelligence. The Association considers that these solutions improve access to services, accelerate access to care, and enhance the efficient use of healthcare resources, particularly in eye care and vision health services.
Artificial intelligence is an important support tool, but responsibility for clinical decision-making must remain with healthcare professionals. To ensure patients’ rights, the use of AI should be transparent, and the option to choose traditional service channels must be preserved alongside digital ones.
