The Finnish Association of Vision and Eyecare is the industry’s professional organisation. We represent extensively optics stores providing optical, ophthalmology and eye laboratory services, manufacturers serving the industry, importers, wholesale businesses and member and training organisations. We promote the industry’s interest in matters of business, health care and education policy and help our member companies in issues related to working life and business. Our goal is to provide your company and the professionals working there with an encouraging operating environment and an opportunity to succeed.

The Finnish Association of Vision and Eyecare is a professional organisation of the Federation of Finnish Special Commodity Trade (ETU), the Finnish Commerce Federation and Suomen Yrittäjät. As a member, you also receive the support of major nationwide organisations, including the Confederation of Finnish Industries (EK). We help companies address issues such as employment relationships and franchising together with the experts of the Federation of Finnish Special Commodity Trade (ETU), Suomen Yrittäjät and the Finnish Commerce Federation.
A diverse training offering
Further training is one part of the job description of every vision and eyecare professional. As a member of the Finnish Association of Vision and Eyecare, you can update your expertise continuously and avoid the risk of becoming obsolete. You will be notified of all the training activities and events in the industry. As a member, you may attend training organised by the Finnish Association of Vision and Eyecare at discount price, and you are also welcome to the training events of the Federation of Finnish Special Commodity Trade (ETU), the Finnish Commerce Federation and Suomen Yrittäjät at membership price. Some of the aforementioned training activities are available free of charge for the members of the Finnish Association of Vision and Eyecare.
Knowing that we will keep you up to date with essential information, you can focus on developing your business. We also offer your company a direct contact for reaching decision-makers at the local, regional and national level when you would like to have a word with them.
Who can become a member?
Any company or sole trader conducting eyewear trade and providing vision and eyecare or eye surgery services may become a voting member of the Finnish Association of Vision and Eyecare.
If you work as a contract entrepreneur in a chain store, instead of becoming an ordinary member, you can also choose the lighter contract entrepreneur membership with a fixed annual service fee. The service fee includes the annual fee of the silmäterveyspalvelut.fi service provider.
The membership also provides you with a statutory patient ombudsman, events of the Finnish Association of Vision and Eyecare at membership price, access to the training events of the Federation of Finnish Special Commodity Trade (ETU), the Finnish Commerce Federation and Suomen Yrittäjät as well as an employer interface for monitoring the further training of staff opticians.
Associations and industry professionals that provide training or develop know-how related to the eyewear trade may become cooperation partners of the Finnish Association of Vision and Eyecare.
